Roomdoo vs Odoo Hotel: generic Odoo apps or a PMS built for hotels
Since version 19, Odoo Enterprise includes Hotel, an industry package from Odoo Industries. It proves that a hotel can run inside an ERP, which is exactly what Roomdoo does. Here is the full comparison, with sources.
Reviewed on 4 November 2026, against Odoo 20 and Roomdoo on Odoo 16, the version in production today.
The short answer
Odoo Hotel works for small properties that already run on Odoo Enterprise. Roomdoo is the PMS for hotels that sell on Booking and Expedia, actively manage their rates and have to comply with Spanish regulations, and it is Odoo too.
- Odoo Hotel
- A configuration package from Odoo S.A. built on its Rental and Planning apps, tied together with Studio and automations. Odoo Enterprise only, versions 19 and 20.
- Roomdoo
- A hotel PMS by CommitSun Tech, built with its own modules inside Odoo, Community or Enterprise, plus a front desk app. Today it runs on Odoo 16; by early 2027 it will also run on 17, 18, 19 and 20. Open hotel code at OCA/pms.
- Spanish regulations
- Roomdoo sends guest registration to the Spanish police (SES.Hospedajes), files the INE survey and invoices with VeriFactu. Odoo Hotel only stores three details from the guest's ID document.
- Channels and rates
- Roomdoo works with WuBook, NeoBookings and SiteMinder, with rates by occupancy, board types and restrictions. Odoo Hotel connects through Channex, with a much simpler rate model.
- Real cost
- Odoo Hotel requires Odoo Enterprise with Studio (Custom plan) and in-house development to comply in Spain. Roomdoo is a fee per room with all of that included.
- Where Odoo Hotel wins
- In task-based housekeeping, in Odoo's partner network and for very small properties that only sell on their own website.
What Odoo Hotel really is
Odoo Hotel is not a PMS built from scratch: it is a configuration of Odoo apps set up to work like a hotel. This is how each hotel concept translates in each product.

Odoo warns on the module page that it is not standard: it uses Studio and may increase your subscription. It is installed as a template, and from then on the configuration belongs to the hotel or its partner.

The planning: what the front desk sees every morning
It is the most used screen in any hotel. Odoo Hotel schedules rooms with Odoo's shift planning app; Roomdoo has a planning designed for whoever runs the front desk, with what matters today in plain sight.

- Each room is a resource and each stay is a shift: the left-hand column adds up hours, not nights.
- It shares its screen and buttons with staff scheduling: “Open Shifts”, “Publish”, “Nothing to schedule”.
- This view does not show the day's price, free rooms, housekeeping or what is still to be paid.

What you would have to build on top of Odoo Hotel
For Odoo Hotel to work in a Spanish hotel that sells on channels, someone has to develop and maintain all of this. In Roomdoo it is already done, and this is what it looks like.

Paperwork for the police and the INE
Each guest's details are collected at check-in or before arrival, with ID document scanning, and go to SES.Hospedajes on their own. The INE occupancy survey is sent every month, and invoices go out with VeriFactu.
In Odoo Hotel:it stores nationality, document type and document number, and sends them nowhere.

Check-in without a front desk
Guests receive their door code before they arrive and go straight to their room. It works with Salto, Omnitec and TTLock, and for properties without a connected lock, with a shared entry code that changes automatically.
In Odoo Hotel:there is nothing equivalent.

Hotel invoicing
Every stay has its own account: accommodation, extras, tourist tax and restaurant charges, which you can split between people or companies, invoice in parts or charge in advance. It all flows into Odoo accounting.
In Odoo Hotel:the reservation is a sales order.

Roomdoo is Odoo too
You do not have to choose between a complete PMS and Odoo. Roomdoo is built inside Odoo: your front desk team works in the Roomdoo app and your back office works in Odoo, on the same data.
Odoo knows it: at the Odoo Partner Day 2026, Alda Hotels, which runs more than a hundred properties with Roomdoo, appeared among Odoo's references alongside Orange, Mediapro and Air Liquide.
What Odoo Hotel does well
We would rather tell you ourselves than have you find out later.
- Task-based housekeeping
- Every day it creates departure and touch-up tasks and assigns them automatically to staff by shift and workload, with a supervisor check. Roomdoo has room status and a daily housekeeping report, but not that automatic assignment.
- Brand and sales network
- Odoo is a well-known brand, with thousands of partners around the world.
- Fast updates
- The package is updated often, because every piece is configuration on top of apps that already exist.
- Enough for very small properties
- For a rural guesthouse, a hostel or a few apartments with no rate or channel strategy, it does the job, and it comes with a booking website and POS.
“It is just another Odoo app” does not mean it comes cheap
Odoo Hotel needs Odoo Enterprise, which is paid per user, and Studio, which takes you to the Custom plan. Then you have to add what is missing: guest registration with the police, the INE survey, setting up channels and rates, and maintaining all that customisation with every Odoo version.
Roomdoo is a fee per room that already includes it, with unlimited users. It runs on Odoo Community, with no Odoo licences, or on Enterprise if you need it.

Odoo Hotel fits if…
You have a small property that sells mainly on its own website, you already use Odoo Enterprise 19 or later, you do not need to manage your rates across channels, and you have a partner who will adapt the configuration and sort out guest registration with the police on their own.
Roomdoo fits if…
You sell on Booking, Expedia and other channels; you actively manage your rates; you have to comply with the police, the tax authority and the INE; you want check-in without a front desk, or a team that can work from day one; and you want all of that inside Odoo.

No. Odoo Hotel is a configuration package from Odoo S.A. built on its Rental and Planning apps. Roomdoo is a complete hotel PMS by CommitSun Tech, with its own modules inside Odoo and a front desk app.
Does Odoo Hotel work for a hotel in Spain?
Out of the box, it does not handle guest registration: it only stores nationality, document type and document number, and does not send them to SES.Hospedajes. It does not send the INE survey either. You would have to develop and maintain that separately.
Does Odoo Hotel connect to Booking and Expedia?
Yes, through Channex since version 19.4. A connector can only carry what the rate model is able to express, and Odoo Hotel's has no minimum stay, no closed to arrival and no availability per channel.
Do I need Odoo Enterprise to use Roomdoo?
No. Most Roomdoo hotels run on Odoo Community. Odoo Hotel, on the other hand, only works with Enterprise and Studio.
My company already uses Odoo. What should I do?
Roomdoo runs on its own platform, today on Odoo 16 and by early 2027 also on 17, 18, 19 and 20. It cannot be installed on Odoo Online. The usual approach is to move your company to the Roomdoo instance, where you get the PMS and all of Odoo. We go through it with you in a demo, based on your version and your modules. Does anything change with Odoo 20?
Odoo 20 adds occupancy, ADR and RevPAR to its package, and has announced further improvements to rates. We review this comparison with every version; the date of the latest review is at the top of the page.
